[Japan News] 63rd Kohaku Uta Gassen Performers Announced 

The performers for the 63rd Kohaku Uta Gassen year end show have been announced.

While many of the artists have performed in years past, there are a few notable newcomers this year. Popular singer-songwriter YUI, who has been a beloved artist for years, will be making her first appearance on the show this year. Following her sudden rise to fame with her breakout hit "PONPONPON", Kyary Pamyu Pamyu will be taking the stage for the first time as well.

Hosting the show this year are Arashi and Maki Horikita. For Arashi, this will be their 3rd year in a row serving as the male hosts for the show, while for Maki Horikita, this year will be her first.

Hey!Say!JUMP’s Chinen Yuri and Takaki Yuya challenge a trip to France where they covered a distance of 2,000 km via local train. Their trip will be called “J’J Hey!Say!JUMP Takaki Yuya and Chinen Yuri- futari kkiri furansu juudan kakueki teisha no tabi-“. The two will travel without the help of staffs and interpreters. Both of them are looking forward to their own growth in regards with this travel challenge.

“A journey is like a man’s romance, I’m hoping to see the best sights,” Takaki shared. As fired-up as Takaki, Chinen said he is looking forward to make some new friends.

Starting from Paris, the two will ride the railway train to cross France toward Mont Saint-Michel to Nice.

Anxious as they were, they can’t help but be excited because they were not sure what will happen during the trip. “I wonder what will change or develop with our friendship after this trip,” Takaki muses.

Lacking the knowledge of French language, Takaki said he was nervous at first, “French language is so mess-up, I can’t understand a thing”. He shared how confused they were the moment they arrived at the airport.

As for Yuri, he did learn two words, “bonjour” and “Merci beaucoup“, although he added that it was still useless during the trip.

The program will follow the format of Yamashita Tomohisa‘s “Route 66” and Kisumai‘s Kitayama Hiromitsu‘s “Solo Backpack in India“. Both of them traveled alone without any aide.

“J’J Hey!Say!JUMP Takaki Yuya and Chinen Yuri- futari kiri furansu juudan kakueki teisha no tabi-” will air on Oct 1st at 1:29 AM (JST).

 Yamada Ryosuke’s solo debut single revealed

Previously, it was reported that Hey! Say! JUMP’s Yamada Ryosuke would be making his solo debut early next year. Now, the details have been revealed!

Yamada’s debut single, “Mystery Virgin“, will serve as the theme song to NTV’s special drama,Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo: Hong Kong Kowloon Zaiho Satsujin Jiken‘. Following Domoto Tsuyoshi, Matsumoto Jun, and Kamenashi Kazuya, Yamada will also play the 4th generation ‘Kindaichi Hajime’ in the drama.

“Mystery Virgin” is described as a dance number that portrays the growth of a boy into a man. For its coupling track, Limited Edition A will contain “Asia no Yoru” and Limited Edition B will contain “Moonlight“, which have both been performed during the group’s concerts.

The Regular Edition will come with a song Yamada wrote himself called “Gin no Sekai ni Negai wo Komete” as well as a cover of KinKi Kids‘ “Ai no Katamari“.

Johnny Kitagawa sets another Guinness World Records

Johnny Kitagawa sets another Guinness World Records

On November 19, it was announced that Johnny’s Entertainment founder Johnny Kitagawa (81) has been certified by the Guinness World Records for “producing the most number of artists who have claimed number 1 on music charts.”

This is Johnny’s 3rd Guinness World Records award as he previously received awards for “most No.1 singles produced by an individual” and “most concerts produced by an individual” last September.

In total, Johnny has produced 35 artists who have topped the Oricon charts. During an interview, Johnny stated, “There is significance in breaking new records. I want to challenge myself to another Guinness.”

Among the 35 artists is KinKi Kids‘ Domoto Koichi. During a press conference for his stage play, ‘Endless SHOCK’, he congratulated Johnny, saying, “I’m one of the artists [produced by him]. I am always thankful for Johnny-san.”

Popular member of Hey! Say! JUMP, Yamada Ryosuke‘s solo debut has been decided.

Debut song “Mistery Virgin” will be the theme song of NTV’s drama SP “Kindaichi Case Files: Hong Kong Kowloon Treasure Murder Case” where Yamada challenges the role of a high school detective. A song with a mysterious atmosphere, a drifting dance number and lyrics to match perfectly with the image of the drama.

Up until now he has performed in concerts alone and as a member of Hey! Say! JUMP, although he has shown his talent in singing and dancing before, this is the first time to perform an original solo song which will be released as a CD.

JUMP’s first attempt as solo artist, Yamada, “I’m glad I can do this in such a memorable occasion (60th Broadcasting Anniversary of NTV), though this has always been something in my dreams, I’m overjoyed”, he happily said.

Currently working in Tokyo Imperial Theater as part of the main cast of “JOHNNY’S World”, dedicated to commemorate Mr. Johnny Kitagawa (81) Guinness Certification Memorial. “I want to keep working hard and devoting myself as Hey! Say! JUMP’s Yamada Ryosuke”, he vowed.

His debut performance as solo artist will be held live in NTV’s music festival “Best Artist 2012″ to be broadcasted in November 28th (7PM). The single will be released in January 9th, 2013.
